Music

"What is it that resonates in us in response to noise brought to harmony, making it the source of the greatest delight which stuns us and brings us together?"

It ain't just the music either. It's the business, it's the production, the distribution, the icons, the identities. Here are our thoughts on the lot! Got an opinion or a qualm? Drop us a line at wdwu@bathtubproductions.com.

A review: St Jerome

A review: St Jerome's Laneway Festival

MUSIC Melissa 14/2/2013

How is this for an ideal day? A lunchtime laying it down with The Rubens, early afternoon drinking in Of Monsters and Men’s mountain sounds, an evening riding an awesome wave with alt-J, getting free to Flume and soaking up all the gold of Bat For Lashes? Once again, St Jerome’s Laneway Festival has pulled out a line up whose brilliance is much more obvious than this confusing attempt to turn their lyrics into verbs.

That time I went to Brisbane to see Radiohead

MUSIC Anna 13/11/2012

The day Radiohead tickets went on sale, hipsters Australia wide panicked. Ticketek crushed the dreams of many as it kept cancelling people’s orders and wouldn’t let them enter their credit card details, and generally wreaked chaos in the lives of chequered shirt-wearing, lens-less glasses bearing humans. This is the story of how I ended up with two hipster tickets to see Radiohead in Brisbane, and not in Sydney where I live.

The perfect way to live it up after finishing Year 12 is to volunteer your way in to Peats Ridge.

Following a passion for music beyond high school

Following a passion for music beyond high school

MUSIC Simone 16/7/2012

“When I was in high school, I loved music. I loved it so much I was in seven ensembles, and not just because I wanted a valid excuse to get out of doing sport. After finishing high school, I figured my musical life was over. I didn’t really take it seriously enough to pursue it professionally, so I resigned myself to singing in the shower, and only the shower.” Simone shares her story of following her passion of music all the way to the University of Adelaide Choir.
