The Bachelor of Laws is ideal for students wishing to practice law as a profession. Students will complete a range of law subjects and subjects from other disciplines, ensuring a wide range of knowledge and experience.

360 credit points in law subjects + 120 credit points in non-law disciplines = 480 credit points.

Campus

Melbourne and Bendigo campuses


This degree is offered at Bendigo; however students must transfer to Melbourne after their initial two years of study. Students may also apply to transfer into a double-degree (five years) after their first year of study. Students will complete eighteen law subjects, six law electives, eight non-law electives throughout the degree. Non-law electives must be approved by the course administrator.

Upon completion of the degree, students are qualified for admission to legal practice in Victoria. Should students wish to pursue practice as a barrister/solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria, they must attain a traineeship (articles of clerkship) or complete an additional legal training course.

Core Subjects: Dispute Resolution, Legal Institutions and Methods, Principles of Criminal Law, Principles of Public Law, Contract Law A and B, Principles of Tort Law, Constitutional Law, Evidence and Criminal Procedure, Foundations of Property Law, Statutory Interpretation, Civil Procedure, Real Property Law, Company Law, Principles of Equity and Trusts, Principles of Administrative Law, Remedies, and Legal Practice and Conduct.

Current Year 12: Satisfactory completion of VCE or equivalent or Australian Year 12 equivalent. VCE Units 3 & 4: study score of at least 35 in English (ESL) or 30 in any other English.
Non Year 12: may be based on ATAR, Pi form, GPA, STAT Multiple Choice
