Bachelor of Surveying

Curtin University offers the only Surveying degree in Western Australia. It is a discipline closely related to Engineering, and students will be equipped with techniques and principles to measure, analyse and manage geological data.

Degree Structure

Curtin Core units (600 credit points) + Stream units (200 credit points) = 800 credit points




Bentley campus

Students will explore new techniques used in surveying such as GPS, marine navigation, digital mapping and land management. The core units allow students to explore Mathematics, Physics, Science Communications, Spatial Mapping and Survey Computations. Students will also cover advanced topics such as Analytical Photogrammetry,  Cartographic Statistics and Geographic Data Analysis. Field excursions, survey camps and three months of practical placement will expand the knowledge of students and provide firsthand training in preparation for their future careers.

Core units: Analytical Photogrammetry, Cartographic Statistics, Coordinate and Mapping Systems, Engineering Surveying, Geographic Data Analysis, Geographic Information Systems, Global Positioning Systems Surveying, Industrial and Mine Surveying, Land Planning, Mathematics, Measurement and Adjustment Analysis, Photogrammetric Mapping, Physics, Plane and Construction Surveying, Remote Sensing and Image Processing, Satellite and Space Geodesy, Science Communications, Spatial Business Management, Spatial Computations, Spatial Data Processing, Spatial Mapping, Survey Computations, Thematic Cartography.

Stream units: Surveying Fourth Year Stream and Honours Surveying Stream.
